Упр. 10 I.15 Перефразируйте следующие предложения, используя must, can’t, might и нужную по контексту форму инфинитивa, чтобы оценить вероятность настоящих и прошедших событий.

Пример: I'm sure he's read a lot of books about gardening.

He must have read a lot of books about gardening.

Perhaps he owes the other man some money.

He might owe the other man some money.

1. I'm sure he hasn't retired yet. He still leaves the house every morning.

2. I’m sure he isn’t very well off. His house is in a terrible mess.

3. Perhaps he spent all his money when he was younger.

4. I’m sure he does a lot of gardening. His garden looks beautiful.

5. I’m sure he’s working in his garden now. I can hear someone digging.

6. Now I can hear voices. Perhaps he’s talking to Miss Appleby.

7. No, I’m sure it isn’t Miss Appleby. It’s two men’s voices.

8. They are shouting. Perhaps they are having an argument.

9. Now I can’t hear anything. I’m sure they’ve gone inside.

10. My God! A gun shot! I’m sure one of the men has killed him!

11. There’s a siren. I’m sure this is the police arriving.

12. Look at all those lights and cameras. Ah! Now I understand. They were making a film!

*Упр. 10 I.16 Как можно точнее передайте смысл предложения с помощью конструкции модальный глагол или его заменитель + перфектный инфинитив, заменив выделенные курсивом глаголы требуемым по контексту перфектным инфинитивом. (Выделенная часть предложения не должна повторяться).

Пример: It is possible that he telephoned while we were out.

He may have telephoned while we were out.

You (thank) him for his present but you didn't.

You should have thanked him for his present.

17. We (set) out today, but the weather is so bad that we decided to postpone our start till tomorrow.
