I 4.1 Сложное дополнение

В функции простого дополнения инфинитив следует за сказуемым. We decided to complete the work ahead of time.

Глаголы, после которых употребляется инфинитив в функции простого дополнения: аgree, claim, intend, demand, decide, offer, refuse, fail, attempt, tend, pretend, threaten, arrange, plan, learn, hesitate, bother, manage, expect, ask, want, would like.

Глаголы expect, ask, want, would like, prefer могут вводитьи простое и сложное дополнение.

В сложном дополнении инфинитив стоит после местоимения в объектном падеже или существительного в общем падеже, которые выполняют действие, выраженное инфинитивом. The boss asked his team to repeat that series of experiments once more.

Глаголы, которые вводят сложное дополнение, можно разделить на следующие группы:

· Глаголы речи: advise, ask, beg, command, encourage, forbid, enable, permit, allow, instruct, invite, cause, force, order, convince, persuade, remind, request, recommend,teach, tell, warn, urge.

· Глаголы умственной активности: think, consider, believe, assume, suppose, expect, fear, find, know, show, prove, hold*, take*, reckon*, choose*, maintain* ( глаголы, отмеченные* имеют значение полагать, считать,если они вводят сложное дополнение ).

· Глаголы эмоций: want, desire, would like, like, dislike, hate, prefer, wish

· Глаголы восприятия: see, watch, observe, notice, hear, smell, feel, + let, make (hope, have, help) вводят сложное дополнение с инфинитивом без to. (В Американском английском этому же правилу подчиняются глаголы в скобках).

8. My colleagues said that I shouldn’t believe everything the representative says. (warn)

*Упр. 10 I.20 Заполните пропуски в предложениях глаголами make, let and allow в нужной по контексту форме. В страдательном залоге "заставить" и "позволить" что-то сделать можно с помощью следующих выражений: to be made/ allowed.

Пример: I was made to open my case by the customs officer. Those who fail the test are allowed to make another attempt once more.
