Nature of Kazakhstan



The nature of Kazakhstan is unique. It contains all exciting natural areas – deserts, semi-deserts, steppes, mountains, rivers, lakes and seas. The lowest point of Kazakhstan is Karagil Hollow (at Mangyshlak peninsula) It is 132 meters bellow sea level. The highest is Khan Tengri Peak situatedon the border of Kazakhstan with China and Kyrgystan in Central Tien-Shan- 7014 meters above sea level. Extremely rich are Kazakhstan’s flora and fauna: over 6000 species of plants 172 species of manuals, 490 species of birds, 50 species of reptiles, 12 species of amphibians and about 100 species of fish approximately 100000 species of insects and the other invertebrates. Some species of plants and animals can be found only here. Many of them are entered in the Red book. Worth nothing is such exceeding rare plant as santonica wormwood grows nowhere else but in the south of Kazakhstan. Nowadays many rare animals, birds, plants are under state protection. There are six state reserves in Kazakhstan. You can find almost all mineral resources known in the world (more than go types) in Kazakhstan and in a large amount.

In resources of iron, chromate, lead, zinc, tungsten, molybdenum, phosphorite, copper, cadmium the country Kazakhstan holds one the leading places. On the territory of the country they have discovered nearly 160 deposits of oil and gas. There are big and small rivers in Kazakhstan. The largest ones are the Ural and the Emba flowing into the Caspian Sea the Syrdaria, falling into the Aral Sea. While the Irtysh, the Ishim and the Tobol run all across the republic to eventually reach the Arctic Ocean.There are big and small lakes in Kazakhstan. The largest among them are the Balkhash, Zaisan, Alakol, Tengiz.

The climate of Kazakhstan is very various because of the great size of its territory. The most general characteristics typical for the whole territory of the republic are aridity and variety.
