Thinking dialectically includes language versus discourse, the components of languages its meanings language and perception and recent research findings. French theorists who laid the early foundations for structure study language distinguished what they call la langue, language and la parole, or discourse. We think about discourse by focusing on how languages are actually used by particular communities of people in particular contexts, for particular purpose.

Language is powerful and can have tremendous implications. Uttering the words I do can influence lives dramatically. being called names can be hurtful and painful, despite the old adage sticks and stones can break by bone, but words will never hurt me the particular language we use predisposes us to think in particular ways and not in others, for example the fact that English speakers do not distinguish between formal and informal you. It shows English speakers think about formality and informal differently than Germans Russians and etc

Some countries have multiple official languages. Here in United States there is no official language, although English is the de facto national language, Laws or customs that determine which language is spoken where and when are referred to as language policies. These policies often emerge from the politics of languages use, as we mentioned earlier, language policies are embedded in the politics of class, culture, ethnicity and economics, They do not develop as a result of any supposed quality of the language itself.
