Ex. 1. Banking Terms.

Match the terms and their definitions.

1. bill a. permission to see (information etc).
2. traveller’s cheque b. to believe; to place faith in someone or something.
3. chequebook c. a sum taken from a bank, etc account.
4. credit card d. a financial organization which keeps money in accounts for its clients, lends money, exchanges currency, etc.
5. banknote e. a regular, especially daily or weekly rather than monthly, payment from an employer to an employee, especially an unskilled or semi-skilled one.
6. access f. a book of cheques ready for use, printed with the account-holder's name and that of the bank issuing it.
7. credit g. a fixed regular payment, usually made monthly, for especially non-manual work.
8. debit h. the act of spending money, or the amount of money spent.
9. bank i. a cheque for a specified amount that the bearer signs and can then exchange for currency, goods or services in another country when in that country.
10. wage j. a card issued by a bank, finance company, etc authorizing the holder to purchase goods or services on credit.
11. salary k. a request for payment of money owed, or the piece of paper on which it is written
12. expense l. a special piece of paper, issued by a bank, which serves as money, being payable to the bearer on demand.
