Research shows that employees leave their jobs voluntarily at different time cycles for different reasons:
Confirmation. Most turnover occurs in the 12-18 moths phase because of poor-job skill fit, disillusionment with the company work and peers.
Consolidation. Turnover in the 24-36 months is often due to poor skill utilization, unmotivational rewards and recognition, poor work/life balance, disillusionment with the company image, and perceived lack of growth.
Revitalization. Voluntary turnover after the 48th month is often driven by career stagnation and lack of job fulfillment: an employee might feel that he/she has given and received everything there was from the company, and that there is nothing left to gain there.
Turnover is predictable and manageable at different life cycle stages.
