In the second half of the 19 century a lot of towns and villages of Russia Empire were joined with the help of railways. The fast growth of manufacturing, agriculture, trade prompted to fasten that process. These years Sumy region belonged to Kharkov province. In 1873 the project of railway track building was affirmed. That idea was supported by the Head of the Nobility of Sumy Uyezd, Kondratey and famous landowners and sugar refining plants owners: Kharitonenko, Sukhanov and fan Lorents. In 1876 they sent a telegram to the Minister of Communications of those period where they asked him to influence and hasten the railway building. Their request was satisfied in 1877. That was the start of Railroad History in Sumy region.

Railway traffic started on the 8^th of January in 1878 in Merefo - Lyubotin - Sumy - Vorozhba main line.

At that time the railway station "Sumy" was put into service. In 1912 the trains were left to Kharkiv every 24 hours (fast train, post train, passenger train).

At that time the railway traffic in Vorozhba station was station too.
