Our Physics Laboratory

There are many laboratories at our faculty. They are laboratories of physics, chemistry, electronics and others. One of the laboratories where the students work from the very beginning is the laboratory of physical measurements. It is designed for the experimental work of the students. There they get acquainted with different physical devices, watch their operation and carry out experiments. The instruments they use are as follows: voltmeters, ammeters, amplifiers, oscilloscopes, ohmmeters, testers and others.

Before the students start their experiments, they study the material on the subject in the text-book and answer theoretical questions asked by the professor. Then they make the experiment. They carry out experiments in such fields as optics, thermodynamics, electricity and magnetism. Many physical characteristics are measured, namely, melting temperature of metals, sound velocity in gases and solids and others. During the laboratory work the students make notes and do calculations, draw diagrams and graphs.

Many senior students are eager to make advanced studies and work in the laboratories during their spare time. They carry out scientific experiments and investigations and read papers at the students' scientific conferences. And some of the students write articles on the problem under investigation. The scientists of the University help them. Other students try their hand at making various devices which can be used in their experimental work.
