Vinnytsia College of Construction and Architecture

We are students of the Vinnytsia College of Construction and Architecture. It trains technicians, technologists, economists, and financiers.

I am in the first year.

Our college was founded in 1920. In those days it was a vocational school. At present the student body of our collage exceeds 1,000 persons. It has two departments: day-time and correspondence.

We have several faculties. They are Civil Engineering, Water Supply and Sewerage, Economic, Financial, Building and using the Roads, Sanitary Engineering, Landmanagement, Architecture.

Our college gives the future specialists the all-round education. The curriculum consists of the subjects the students specialize in, social subjects and physical training. Professional training includes special subjects: theoretical mechanics, strength of materials, drawing, geodesy, etc. All the students study a foreign language. They are to attend different lectures and seminars.

Our students have their practice at the construction sites where they gain certain, experience. At the end of each term students take their credits (tests) and examinations. Students that pass their examinations successfully get grants. Beginning from the second year all the students take term project- papers on different subjects.

Students present their diploma papers to the state examination commission. Our collage occupies three buildings and is situated in the center of the town in Kotsubynskiy Street. The main, building was completed in 1964.

It has the library with a specious reading hall, many classrooms and well- equipped labs, a fine gym, etc. Oh the third floor there is our assembly hall where we usually gather to celebrate different holidays.

The canteen and the cloakroom are on the ground floor.

Our college is clean and light. There are white curtains on the windows and flowers on the walls and on the window sills. The corridors are large and full of sunlight. There we can have some rest between our classes or just talk to each other.

Our studies begin at 8.30; usually we have 6 or 8 hours (periods) a day. We have lunch break at 11.20. Our classes are over at 14.40.

The academic year begins on the first of September and ends in June.

I do well because I want to become a good specialist. In three years I'll finish the collage. To be a good specialist it's necessary to study many general and special subjects' to broaden the world outlook.
