Industrial lubricants

As long as we have had objects turning on this earth, lubricant materials in some form or other have certainly existed. Grease and graphite are the best-known of the oldest lubricants. After having treated metal parts by graphite people achieved better sliding between adjoined surfaces, thus having prolonged their service.

The stamping of metals is gaining in importance. Thereby the stamping lubricant is expected to facilitate the movement of the workpiece in the die. After having improved some sorts of lubricants by various additives the stamping of metals, as for example in the manufacture of car bodies as well as engine parts, was increasingly gaining in importance. Moreover, it should create a separating layer between the metal and the die.

The rolling of strips and sheets made of steel, aluminum and other nonferrous metals is one of the most important forming processes in metal-working. Ingots are cast out of molten metal, and then hot or cold rolled down to the desired thickness. The emulsions dissipate the forming and frictional heat, prevent slippage as well as excess friction and guarantee high-quality surfaces.

The use of corrosion-prevention oils maintains the functioning and provides protection for machines, aggregates and metal surfaces.

What would copper-covered towers on our churches and castles be without their splendid patina? What might be the desired effect in this case if special lubricants were avoided. Otherwise, the bare metal surfaces which have often been achieved at considerable expense would lose their surface condition by corrosion. The result is not only a deterioration in appearance, but also a loss of function. Lubricant manufacturers, with their large variety of products for the surface treatment of semi-finished and finished products, machinery and components, are considered in many countries to be a market leader in the sector of temporary corrosion preventives.

The new generation of corrosion-prevention oils, while being highly effective, are today also extremely economical in their application and are used in varying grades and film thicknesses. The so-called dewatering fluids have a very special function. These are applied to damp or wet metallic surfaces and induce drying while providing simultaneous protection against corrosion.
