FATHER’S MOTTO

The teacher was giving her class a lecture on mottoes and wished the class to memorise the motto, “It is better to give than to receive”.

A small boy cried out, “Yes, Miss, my father says he has always used that as his motto in business.”

“What is his business?” the teacher asked.

THE TEN COMMANDMENTS OF GOOD BUSINESS

My elder brother is a businessman and has his own office in the center of our town. Once I visited his office and stopped at the door of it: there I saw a big placard written in English and Ukrainian. The title of it was “The Ten Commandments of Good Business”. I have heard about the Ten Commandments, but they are connected with the Bible. So I became interested in it and read it from the very beginning. Here it is.

1. a customer is the most important person in any business.

2. a customer is not dependent on us. We are dependent on him.

3. a customer is not an interruption of our work. He is a purpose of it.

4. a customer does us a favour when he calls. We are not doing him a favour by serving him.

5. a customer is a part of our business, not an outsider.

6. a customer is not a cold statistician, but a human being with feelings like our own.

7. a customer is a person who brings us his wants. Our job is to fill those wants.
