TRIP TO RUSSIA

A lot of people travel for pleasure or on business today. Before they go on a trip they read something about the place they are go­ing to or speak to those people who have been there. Some people are interested in art, and they visit picture galleries and museums. Others are fond of historical buildings and monuments. There are people who prefer different exhibitions, shows, etc.

Every country is proud of its history, culture, customs and tradi­tions. Foreign visitors arc offered tours to different parts of Russia. All necessary arrangements for the tours are made in advance: air, ship or railway tickets are booked, accommodation is reserved and meals are provided. Foreign guests are accompanied by experienced guides who do their best to make our guests' stay in Russia inter­esting and useful. Trips to Russia give them an opportunity to know the country and the people better. As a result the relations of Rus­sia with other countries of the world are improving.

HOTELS

When people travel they almost always stay at hotels or guest houses. It is necessary to remember the following:

1. The first thing to do is to book a room in advance by letter, telephone or telegram, or you may arrive at the hotel and told that there are no rooms available.

2. On arrival at the hotel go to the reception desk and confirm you reservation. The clerk will then give you a registration form fill in and sign (the form is filled in in block letters).

3. At large hotels you may ask for any service by telephone. You tell the telephone operator if you want to be called at a certain time; you call room service when you want a meal or drinks; if you need something (say, a suit or a dress cleaned or pressed).

4. Let the hotel manager know in advance the day and the time of your departure.
