Degrees of Comparison of Adjectives (Ступені порівняння прикметників)
В англійській мові якісні прикметники мають три ступені порівняння:
●звичайний (the Positive Degree)
●вищий (the Comparative Degree)
● найвищий (the Superlative Degree)

| односкладові, що закінчуються на одну приголосну з попереднім коротким голосним подвоюють кінцеву приголосну | big hot | bigger hotter | (the) biggest (the) hottest |
| що закінчується на –у з попередньою приголосною у →і | easy happy | easier happier | (the) easiest (the) happiest |
| що закінчуються на німе –е втрачають його | large white | larger whiter | (the) largest (the) whitest |
