In Canada, it's appropriate to greet someone with a firm handshake. When shaking hands, an individual should look the person directly into the eyes and smile sincerely. Canadians are quite informal when using first names. However, individuals should first be invited or ask for permission to use someone's first name.

Dress

Canadians dress according to the seasons. Canadians may wear dark business suits in the winter and lighter suits in spring and summer. Although many Canadian companies lean towards a business-casual environment, individuals are still expected to dress in a business suit for a professional meeting.

English and French are the official business languages in Canada. Most international business is conducted in English, and most French-Canadians understand and speak English well.
