Ex.7 Look at the difference between would/ could/ might:
If she had the time, he would see her more often. (certainty)
If she worked harder, she could do well. (ability)
If she bought an alarm clock, she might be more punctual. (possibility)
Make sentences in response to the situations:
Example: She can’t ring him because she hasn’t got his number. – If she had his number, she could ring him.
1. She can’t write to him because she hasn’t got his address.
2. Your friend doesn’t get enough exercise, that’s why he’s so unhealthy.
3. She can’t carry the case because it’s too heavy.
4. The doctor cannot examine you today as you haven’t made an appointment with him.
5. He speaks very quickly. Perhaps that’s why I can’t understand him.
6. He can’t see because he isn’t wearing his glasses.
Ex.8 Supply the correct form of the verb in brackets forming past-unreal conditions. Follow the example:

Ex.9 Accidents. The people in the doctor’s waiting room have all had accidents. Read what happened. Then make sentences with if, like this:
Mr Jones fell off his bicycle. He broke his arm. – If he hadn’t fallen off his bicycle, he wouldn’t have broken his arm.
1. Mrs King fell off a ladder. She broke her arm.
2. Mrs Fox dropped the iron. She burned her hand.
3. Mr Green fell down the stairs. He hurt his knee.
4. Miss Page didn’t fasten her seat belt. She broke her nose.
