Sting was born in Wallsend, England in 1952 and lived there for over 20 years. As a child he learned to play the piano and guitar. He worked as a teacher in Newcastle but then in 1978 he decided to create the group The Police with Stewart Copeland and Andy Summers. They had hits with Message in a bottle in 1979 and Every breath you take in 1983. The Police played together until 1984. Then Sting started to sing on his own and received awards for several songs. He appeared in the films Brimstone and Treacle in 1982, Dune in 1984 and Plenty in 1985. He married Trudy Styler in 1986. He has six children. In 2010 he was in Russia and gave two concerts in Moscow.
