4) Do you read anything in English? Have you read any English books up to the end? What were the books? Did you find them difficult?

5) Do you think reading in English is useful? In what way? Do you use dictionaries to look up words you don’t know? What do you prefer: to read stories in easy English or to have difficult texts for reading? Why?

9. Here are five ways to learn more English outside the classroom. Which of these do you do already? Are there any others you’d like to try?

· Look for signs in English. These are particularly common in hotels, large shops, railway stations, etc. Do you know what they mean? Can you translate them into your own language?

· Is there an English-language newspaper in your country? Buy a copy and try to read it.

· Look for websites which have an English version and a version in your own language. Read the English one first, then the one in your own language.

· Look for films/videos/DVDs which have English dialogue and subtitles in your own language. Note down the words/phrases that you recognise.

· Look for songs lyrics in English (especially on the Internet). See if you can translate the words of your favourite songs into your own language.
