OF ORGANIZATION AND REPRESENTATION OF ETHNIC COMMUNITIES IN UKRAINE

RESUME

The role of national minorities in the Ukrainian society has increased considerably Ukraine has been proclaimed an independent state. The analysis of the development of national minorities in the recent years proves that the increasingly active political integration of the minorities into the internal policy process takes place.

This master's work analyzes the problem of structuring public organizations of ethnic minorities in Ukraine over the past decades. Attention is drawn to the legitimization of national representative organizations at the state level. The author draws attention on the fragmentation of ethnic communities associations. These are activities of Council of National Communities (Ilya Levitas), The Alliance of National Cultural Unions (Oleksandr Feldman), the Inter-Ethnic Forum (Oleksandr Svistunov), the Council of public organizations of national minorities(Ishtvan Hajdosh) and the Congress of National Communities (Josyf Zisels) in Ukraine.

The aim of the master's work is to analyze the complex of national cultural societies as interest groups representing minority ethnic communities in Ukraine.

In the context of this general aim the author solves the following tasks:

1) description of theoretical and methodological approaches to the study of national minorities in Ukrainian public life;

2) analyze the features of the constitutional and legal status of national minorities in Ukraine;

3) determine the specificity of the formation and activities of Ukrainian national cultural societies;

4) highlight the features of political participation of non-government organizations of national minorities in Ukraine.

The object of the master's work are national cultural associations of ethnic communities in Ukraine, which protect the social, cultural and economic rights of their members.

Subject matter of the study are genesis, structure and main activities of public associations of national minorities in Ukraine.

Structure of the thesis includes an introduction, four chapters, conclusions and bibliography (87 titles).

Key words: ethnic community, ethnic group, nation minority, nation cultural association, community organization, representation, public activity, political participation.
