Ø There is a tradition in Switzerland to produce cheese when the boy is born in the family, and then to eat this cheese when celebrating his wedding.

Ø Buttermilk (the product that is left after the butter manufacturing)? is a good means for alimentary canal treatment because it contains minor quantity of fat granules, that can be easily assimilated. The protein that the buttermilk contains is similar to the blood albumen and therefore is also health-giving. The buttermilk is of use for the people ill with atherosclerosis.

Ø Thomas Parr is the oldest man in England. He lived for 152 years, 9 months and a couple of days. He usually had eaten rancid cheese, milk, sour buttermilk and stale bread.

Ø The English specialists have elaborated the method of extracting milk from plants that are willingly eaten by the cows, i.e. leaves of barley, clover, maize, oats, rye, wheat etc.. The albumens extracted from the plants were heated and then filtered. The obtained deep-green mass was then boiled, and placed to the machines, where it was mixed up with nutrient substances. The artificial milk is as much nutrient as the cow milk. Its appearance does not differ much from that of natural milk, it is denser. And even the most exigent degustators could not find any defects.

Ø Glass bottles are not very suitable for the milk storage. After one hour of storage in it, the milk loses 90% of vitamin C, moreover the properties of riboflavin and vitamin B2 are changed under the influence of light. The milk is well preserved in polyethylene package produced in Netherlands. This cheap cover (black inside and white outside) does not allow the light to penetrate inside. Owing to this fact during 4 hours of storage the milk loses only about 15% of vitamin C. In our country the paper package is widely used in order to keep the milk nutrient.

Ø Milk does not have soporific effect. But the glass of warm milk taken before going to bed reduces gastric secretion, influence stomach receptors and provides common sedative effect.

Ø Milk, especially goat milk, is not contra-indicated to the people suffered from gastritis with lowered acidity. It gives good effect to the stomach and its mucous membrane.

Ø Koumiss made from the milk of steppe mare is often called athletic/Hercules drink. This product is known from the times immemorial. 2400 B.C. Herodot wrote that Skiffs, wandering around the steppes of south-eastern Russia, blinded their captives and forced them to make the mares milk in wooden tub. During the Universal Exhibition in Montreal the visitors have tasted the koumiss and on the following day the papers wrote that this drink can make the men hale and hearty, and the women look younger. Since then koumiss became very popular.

Ø Butter was firstly exported from Russia to Turkey and Egypt in 1822. At that time the butter was delivered in drums and was melted. Because of this fact the melted butter was nicknamed Russian butter on the world market.

Ø The word "cream" is originated from the word "to pour". Before the separator was invented, the fat from the milk was extracted after it was settled in containers. The fat settlement was continued during 24 hours, then the upper layer was poured and it was cream.

Ø The fresh ink-stain can be easily removed by milk.

Ø It is advised to clean gilted frames, mirror and keyboard with milk.
