Poltava National Technical Yuri Kondratuik University (PNTU) is an outstanding institution1 of higher education that trains specialists for various fields of technical engineering. It has 4th level of accreditation. At present the students body amounts2 to 10 000 people, among them full-time, part-time undergraduates, postgraduates. They receive fundamental and humanitarian knowledge with the help of the respectable3 teaching staff.
The university is made up of4 eight faculties: faculty of finance and economics, the architectural, the civil engineering, the faculty of remote and graduate studies, faculty of oil and gas, faculty of management and business, faculty of electric and mechanic engineering and the newest faculty of information and telecommunication technologies and systems.
The University has a glorious5 history and ancient traditions of training specialists. PNTU is the oldest educational institution of higher learning in our town. Established6 on August 18, 1930 as the Institute of Agricultural Engineers, in 1961 it was transformed into Civil Engineering Institute where specialists for 6 engineering directions, including agriculture, were trained. At the beginning of 90's scientific council of the Institute made a decision to reform the single-discipline7 educational establishment into the multiple-discipline technical university. Since June 21, 1997 the University has proudly got the name of outstanding theorist8 in cosmonautics, Yuri Kondratuik (Alexander Sharhey). Educational process at the university is carried out at the level of modern educational requirements. There are also four specialized Academic Councils9 for defense of Ph.D. and doctoral theses.
Situated in the picturesque10 district of Poltava, University has nine academic buildings. Students are provided with comfortable campus, meals, sports gyms, libraries and internet clubs. The complete11 university course lasts12 6 years. Students study higher mathematics, physics, descriptive geometry, Ukrainian and foreign languages, computer sciencesand many others. Ukraine’s President granted13 the Technical University of Poltava with the status of “National” on 27 March, 2002. In 2010 PNTU celebrated 80 years anniversary14 of its educational traditions.
