Christmas is the most favoured holiday in the Christian world. No wonder that every country has its own traditions of celebration. In most countries it is kept on the 25^th of December. But in my country it is marked on January the 7^th. We have many interesting traditions to celebrate Christ's birth. In Ukraine this holiday symbolises the reunion of the whole family. That's why Christmas is not only my favourite holiday; it's much respected by all Ukrainian people.

We celebrate Christmas only in the family circle. The evening before is called Holy Eve, and mother cooks Holy Supper. The supper consists of twelve traditional dishes. Most of all, I adore Christmas morning, when we have our family lunch together. The meal takes about two hours, and we spend a lot of time chatting about our family events, caroling.

The celebration of Christmas in Great Britain differs something from that in Ukraine.

The fun starts the night before, on the 24^th of December. Traditionally this is the day when people decorate their trees. Children hang stockings at their beds, hoping that Father Christmas will come down the chimney during the night and fill them with toys and sweets.

Christmas for the British is a family holiday too. All the family usually meet for the big Christmas dinner of turkey and Christmas pudding. And everyone gives and receives presents.

Summing up, Christmas is the best holiday for almost all nations and countries. It gathers together all families and presents the joy of Christ birth to lonely people.

Різдво—найулюбленіше свято в християнському світі. Не дивно, що кожна країна має свої традиції святкування. У більшості країн його святкують 25 грудня, а в моїй країні — 7 січня. У нас є багато цікавих традицій святкування народження Христа, і більшість з них походить із прадавніх часів. В Україні це свято символізує возз'єднання всієї сім'ї. Тому Різдво є не лише моїм улюбленим святом, його вшановують усі українці.

Ми святкуємо Різдво лише в сімейному колі. Вечір перед Різдвом має назву Святвечір, і мама готує Святу вечерю. Вечеря складається з дванадцяти традиційних страв. Більш за все мені подобається різдвяний ранок, коли ми снідаємо разом. Сніданок займає близько двох годин, і ми проводимо багато часу, розмовляючи про наші сімейні справи, колядуючи.

Святкування Різдва у Великобританії дещо відрізняється від того, що в Україні.

Веселощі починаються у Свят вечір, увечері 24 грудня. За традицією у цей день всі прикрашають свої ялинки. Діти чіпляють панчохи біля своїх ліжок, сподіваючись, що Дід Мороз спуститься через димар уночі й покладе в панчохи іграшки та цукерки.

Різдво для британців — сімейне свято також. Зазвичай вся сім'я збирається за великою різдвяною вечерею, що обов'язково включає індичку та різдвяний пудинг. Усі дарують один одному подарунки.

Підсумовуючи, скажу, що Різдво є найкращим святом майже для всіх народів і країн. Воно збирає разом сім'ї і дарує радість народження Христа самотнім людям.

1) My favourite teacher teaches us Ukrainian as well as Ukrainian and Literature. 2) She is very intel­ligent and has a gift for teaching. 3) At the same time she is rather strict, so lazy pupils don't like her. 4) However, in my opinion her way of teaching is really fruitful. 5) She persuaded us to learn a lot of grammar rules by heart. 6) Owing to it, I almost never make mistakes both writing and speaking. 7) She also demands that we should read a lot of books.

8) During our Literature lessons we discuss such things like the plot or what the author wanted to say in his masterpiece 9) It is great when everyone expresses his own opinion and thoughts in connection with the book he has read. 10) Besides teaching us teacher makes a lot for our bringing-up. 11) She teaches us to be a personality and to think of our actions. 12) I think she's had a great influence on my life and me. 13) Thanks to her I learned to be responsible and not to come under the influence of a group of people but to stand off them. 14) That's why I always have my own point of view on everything.

5.First of all, the Internet helps us find information easily. 6.For example, we can read the news and find answers to the questions 24 hours a day.

7.In addition, we can use the Internet for entertainment. 8.We can send

e-mails to friends and shop online. 9.We can even listen to the latest music and watch live sporting events from other parts of the world.

10.However, some people argue that the Internet has a negative effect on society. 11.Internet users become less sociable. 12.They stay at home most of the day instead of going out to shop, work and meet friends.

13.In my opinion, the Internet has more advantages than disadvantages. 14.Our lives are better with it.
